Level 3 Part P Electrical
This course is suitable for those who have no formal electrical qualification and who work in plumbing, kitchen installation, security alarms, telecommunications, property maintenance, garden installation, air-conditioning, bathroom installation, gas installers, etc. and wish to join a Domestic Installer Scheme. On completion of the course the candidate will be required to join on of the Approved Schemes.
Part of the criteria for the course is that there should be no barrier to entry and that anybody can apply. However should the individual feel that they possess no electrical aptitude whatsoever, we would recommend that serious consideration is given to attending the preliminary Basic Domestic Electrical Appreciation course prior to the Level 3 Part P Electrical Installer course. |
Successful completion of the Level 3 Part P Electrical Installers courses and appropriate assessment will suitable prepare the individual to undergo site inspection under the NAPIT or NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme. |
In order for electrical installers to self-certify that their domestic installation work in England and Wales is compliant with Part P of the building regulations. They must either be registered with a competent person scheme such as the NAPIT or NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme or register electrical work with the local building control before work starts. All applicants to the Domestic Installer Scheme must meet a number of requirements, in particular be able to demonstrate they have the ability to install, inspect, test and certify their work in accordance with BS 7671, and to comply with the relevant Building Regulations. |
This training course has been provided to assist electricians and others outside the industry to prepare for Part P of the Building Regulations. It has been developed in partnership by the NICEIC (the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting and the ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association). |
With the advent of Part P, the above organisations, have decided to collaborate and provide a modular training course with the intention of it becoming a national qualification for domestic installers. |
The Part P Electrical Installers course covers the scope of work to become competent for electrical work within a dwelling. It will consist of 9 modules and be delivered over approximately 5 days. |
