EAL Level 3 Certificate in Engineering Electrical & Electronic Technology

The Commercial / Industrial Electrical and Electronic course has been designed for participants where transferable skills of maintaining electronic equipment are vital to their current or future role::

 
  • Mechanical engineers looking to cross-skill / up-skill to electrical maintenance engineering.
  • Technicians who are / will be installing, commissioning or maintain electronic equipment.
  • Prospective Turbine Technicians
  • Organisations looking to multi-skill their workforce
  • Individuals currently undertaking an NVQ and require the underpinning knowledge of commercial / industrial electrical maintenance practices.
  • New entrants to the industry

    The aim of the course is to give participants practical experience based on realistic industry situations, working on electronic devices and circuits found in industry. The course progresses from simple circuits with typical faults to complex circuits as the candidates develops the circuity and testing skills.
     
     
     
    The Commerical / Industrial Electrical and Electronic Maintenance course includes a range of topics such as:

  • Start / Lock-off / Stop / Isolation equipment
  • Level controls - Float switches, Electronic types
  • Thermostats / Pressure stats
  • Utlisation of test equipment
  • Amps / Volts / Ohms
  • Power factor correction of inductive loads

  • Fuse boards
  • MCBs / Types of MCBs and applications
  • Cabling systems in common use / Types of cable
  • Lighting applications
  • Flourescent stroboscope effect
  • Use of leading power factor fittings

  • Current measurement using "tong tester"

  • The course is held at Crownship Technical in Hull over 10days; candidates will be expected to self-study theory knowledge elements of some parts of the course.
    In-House : Course design and delivery is available upon request .
