City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations

 

This course is aimed at persons new to the electrical industry i.e service leavers, mult/cross skilled individuals or for those that have a 17th Edition certificate.

The objective of the City & Guilds 2382 18th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations indicate a level of knowledge required for this assessment:

    The Level 3 scheme for assessment and certification is aimed at practicing electricians with relevant experience and is intended to ensure that they are familiar with the layout, content and use of the IEE Regulations BS 7671:2018. It may also be suitable for anyone requiring and understanding of BS7671, although prior knowledge in basic electrics will be required.

  • Knowledge of contents and use of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and supporting guides.
  • Definitions and recommendations for installations
  • Complying with ALL the current rules
  • Knowledge incorporating information of electricity at Work Act 1989 and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (BS 7671)
  • Some design calculations are included, therefore a non-programmable scientific calculation is required (not provided)

  • Candidates will be required to undertake a 2 hour "on-line" multiple-choice open book examination.

    Prepare your business for 18th Edition Amendment 4 (C&G 2382-26) April 2026

    •  

     The IET and BSI have confirmed that Amendment 4 (2026) to BS 7671:2018 (the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations) will be published on 15 April 2026. Businesses will be able to implement the amendment immediately upon publication and the previous version, BS 7671:2018 + A2:2022 + A3:2024, will be withdrawn six months later. Amendment 4 will then become the definitive British Standard for all new low-voltage electrical installations, modifications to existing systems, and periodic inspection and testing.

     

    Significant changes include:

  • A new chapter on stationary secondary batteries where the purpose is for electrical storage and supply of electrical installations.
  • A new section on functional earthing and functional equipotential bonding for information and communication technology (ICT) equipment and systems.
  • A new section on power over ethernet (PoE).
  • A major revision of Section 710 Medical Locations and the inclusion of a schedule of test results for recording the resistance of supplementary protective equipotential bonding conductors
