City & Guilds 2392 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. However, candidates will be assessed to ensure they have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles.
This course is ideally suited for candidates who have completed The Domestic Electrical Installer / Part P Electrics and/or City & Guilds 2382 – 17th Edition courses or candidates who hold previous electrical qualifications and industry experience.
The City & Guilds 2392 Certificate in fundamental inspection, testing and initial verifications is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training.
It is also suitable for those coming into the industry with limited experience/new entrants to inspection and testing.
The City & Guilds 2392 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification is intended to provide candidates with an introduction to the fundamentals of inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations.
Aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training.
To meet the needs of those working in allied trades who undertake some electrical work.
It is also suitable for those coming into the industry with limited experience of inspection and testing who want to work as electricians in the electro-technical sector.
Candidates who achieve this qualification could progress onto the Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-10).
This new Level 2 qualification has been developed in order to meet the needs of the electrical contracting industry.
Training
This is very much a ‘hands-on’ training course. All underpinning knowledge requirements will be supported by frequent practical activities.
Subjects covered:
- The fundamentals of intital verification
- Safe working practices and procedures
- Initial inspection
- Types of electrical certification for new installations
- Instrumentation used
- Range of appropriate test applied to electrical installations
Assessments
- Candidates will be required to undertake a 1½ hour "on-line" multiple choice examination covering the underpinning knowledge ralating to the fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations, as required by BS 7671:2008 and;
- A practical test covering the range of inspections, tests, verification and recording of information and results for a new electrical installation, again, as required by BS7671:2008.
