Crownship Plumbing Diploma Level 3

This is a newly designed plumbing qualification which provides adult learners with viable options for entry or advancement within the plumbing industry without having to achieve other NVQ plumbing units.


Crownship has developed variable options for the level 3 Plumbing Diploma, the option you take is very much dependant on your existing skills and your particular requirements.
 
The Crownship plumbing diploma course will qualify you with the skills and knowledge to install service and maintain plumbing systems in domestic buildings. The qualifications cover domestic plumbing and heating; with an optional pathway in environmental technologies covering unvented hot water systems and solar thermal installations.
 
Option 1:
 
New entrants intending to gain practical skills and knowledge in order to gain enter into the plumbing industry as a fully qualified level 3 Plumber. No previous plumbing qualification or experience is needed before taking this course.
 
At the start you will receive an in depth period of training to cover practical pipe work skills together with knowledge of hot and cold water systems along with central heating systems. You will also gain knowledge and experience in the installation techniques of domestic appliances.
 
As you progress through the course you will expand your understanding of water regulations, plumbing design, sanitation and plumbing electrics. Practical learning activities will expand your knowledge and skills of unvented hot water systems and solar thermal installations.

Option 2:
 
This option is designed for existing plumber who may have completed a level 2 qualification in plumbing or for non qualified plumbers with industry experience, wanting to achieve a level 3 qualification in plumbing.
 
To ensure we build on your areas of experience, you will have the opportunity to discuss with your tutor the content of the Level 3 Plumbing qualification and to work out an individual training plan and content which builds on your experience and skills.
 
Duration: 8 weeks (See Flexible Training Programmes)
 
Option 3:
 
For plumbers with level 2 qualifications or for experienced plumbers with no craft qualifications, but certificates for example in Unvented Hot Water System, Water Regulation or Solar Thermal who want to achieve a level 3 qualification in plumbing.
 
This is a fast tract option focusing on assessment, using your industry experience and qualifications to qualify as a level 3 Plumber.
 
A total input of 10 days training is allocated to option 3, any additional training time and expenditure will be agreed with your tutor.
 
To ensure we build on your areas of experience, you will have the opportunity to discuss with your tutor the content of the Level 3 Plumbing qualification and to work out an individual training plan and content which will build on your experience and focuses in the main on assessment of the qualification.

Flexible Training Programmes
 
We have structured each option to run for a period of consecutive weeks, however, Crownship will deliver the Plumbing Diploma Level 3 qualifications to a standard; the period of weeks is only an approximate length of time for the course.
 
The plumbing qualification is available as a “Flexible Training Programme” be it block attendance over a period of continuous weeks or week on week off. The Crownship “Flexible Training Programme” can accommodate shift patters with single multiple days attendance be it week on week off shift patterns.
 
Qualification Title and Content
 
EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating (QCF)
 
This is a industry supported and recognised qualification:
 
  • Is supported by Summit Skills the sector skills council for plumbing and this qualification forms part of their apprenticeship framework,
  • Is recognised and supported by the industry including the Plumbing JIB,
  • Has been developed in conjunction with industry and training providers.
  •  
    There are 12 units in this level 3 Plumbing qualification, To achieve this qualification you need to complete all 12 units. Throughout the course you will be assessed by practical assignments with external exams
     
  • Understand how to organise resources within
  • Understand and carry out electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems and components
  • Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Understand and apply domestic sanitation system installation, commissioning, service and maintenance techniques
  • Install, commission, service and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
  • Know the requirements to install, commission and handover solar thermal hot water systems
  • Install, commission and handover ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
  • Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
  • Inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
