AM2 Preparation Course

AM2 preparation course is designed to equip candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully complete the AM2 assessment, covering both theoretical and practical elements.

 
Course outline:
 
  • Safe isolation procedure and risk assessments
  • Installations from TP-N distribution board to including SWA, SY, T&E, single core, FP200, socket-outlets, lighting, motor control, S plan central heating, protective bonding, data, CO detector.
  • Inspection and Testing to including visual inspection, continuity tests, IR testing, PEFC, PSCC, phase sequence, completion of Electrical Installation Certificates, Schedule of Inspections, Schedule of Test Results.
  • Fault Diagnosis & Rectification, including practical fault finding, identification and coding of faults.
  • Revision session on BS 7671 and Building Regulations.

  • Overview of the NET pre-assessment manual and candidate readiness checklist.
  • Compare the most common errors made during assessment and ensuring the correct outcome can be achieved.
  • Identify and demonstrate safe isolation of circuits.
  • Identify and demonstrate safe isolation of circuits.
  • Types of cables and terminations, good and bad practice.
  • Understand 2 way and intermediate lighting circuit wiring.
  • Understand ring final circuits wiring.
  • Understand a Direct-On-Line (DOL) starter terminations and overload settings.
  • Understand S plan central heating typical wiring diagrams.
  • Confirm CAT5e data terminations, wiring standards.
  • Understand different fault protective devices.
  • List the fault-finding techniques to enable efficient and safe fault diagnosis.
  • Confirm understanding of the correct use of a Multi-Functional Tester (MFT) and Network Cable Tester.
  • Understand how to test and inspect a test rig and complete an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).
  • Understand how to test and identify a range of faults introduced to a test rig and complete a Fault Finding Sheet.
