Crownship over the past ten years have been providing a Gas Programmes to meet these requirements in conjunction with CITB.

The Qualifications available are:

  • Industrial and Commercial Gas Safety
  • Industrial Burner Controls and Combustion
  • Industrial Pipework
  • Industrial Tightness Testing and Purging

Industrial and Commercial Gas Safety (Module A)

This covers the relevant gas regulations and standards, combustion pressure control, above and below ground pipe work, and the range of flues and ventilation.

The industrial and commercial gas safety assessments will require candidates to carry out the following tasks:

  • Identify possible contravention of regulations
  • Identify complete and incomplete ombustion, recording the combustion efficiency of an appliance
  • Determine the operation burner pressure and rate heat input of an appliance
  • Analyse and determine the flue efficiency of an appliance
  • Determine the effectiveness of a flue system
  • Determin flueing and ventilation requirements
  • Use a U-gauge
  • Carry out a survey of an industrial or commercial pipework system
  • Leave an installation safe
  • Work ina safe and methodical manner

Tightness Testing and Purging (Module B)

The Tightness Testing and Purging assessment will require candidates to carry out the following tasks:

  • Calculate installation volumes and purge volumes
  • For new and existing installations, determin tighness testing and purging, calculations and requirements
  • Carry out a tightness test of an existing installation
  • Carry out a direct purge of atmosphere
  • Carry out vent gas testing
  • Work in a safe and methodical manner

Industrial Pipework (Module C)

The Industrial Pipework assessment will require candidates to carry out the following tasks:

  • Produce a line diagram of a boiler installation
  • Work in a safe methodical manner

Industrial Burner Controls and Combustion (Module D)

Individual Controls are arranged into a complete control system depending on the type of appliance, and the way it is required to operate.

The Industrial Burner Controls and Combustion will require candidate to carry out the following tasks:

  • Identify the safe method and procedure for the initial lighting of industrial appliances
  • Identify and test the flame failure devices on a range of industrial appliances
  • Demonstrate the serviceability of inbuilt safety devices on industrial appliances
  • Identify and set the controls of the maximum heat input on an appliance so as to prevent bas combustion or overheating under normal use
  • Check out and test manually operated controls adjacent to the appliance for the purpose of isolationg the main gas supply to the main or pilot burner
