Experienced Worker Route Plumbing - NVQ Level 2 6189
Experience Worker Route (Plumbing)
The Experienced Worker Route is designed to assist a worker experienced in a wide range of plumbing activities and practices to achieve the City & Guilds 6189 NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating.
The pre-requisite for this alternative process requires the candidate to provide:-
Documentary evidence of a minimum of 3 years proven work experience. This can be for example but not exclusive to, a CV or a letter from an employer.
A Crownship Assessor supported by an Internal Verifier will provide the candidate(s) with advice, guidance and formal assessment.
The aim of the induction is to ensure the candidate(s) are clear about the process and to establish achievable time scales. This can be completed via telephone, skype and email and or face to face.
When sufficient evidence for each unit has been obtained, this will be formally assessed and verified when all units are complete, full certification will be applied for.
Below are the fixed and variable activities needed to achieving the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 6189 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating qualification
Induction - This can take up to 3 hours and can be delivered face to face, Skype or telephone. If you choose the Skype or telephone option we will post out you portfolio prior to this taking place. The assessor will go through the portfolio in details explaining what is required and examples of how you can achieve it. We would encourage you take notes and ask lots of questions to ensure you are clear about the whole process. During the induction the assessor will discuss the individual tasks you are required to complete and identify the method in which you can achieve it based on the type of work you do, i.e simulated or direct observation (explained below)
Registration & Examination – You will be registered for the City & Guilds 6189-11 NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing & Heating. As part of the qualification you will be required to sit 10 on-line multiple choice closed book exams. We will provide the portfolio along with a technical publication with all the content to ensure you have revision material in readiness for the exams. Exam sitting are reasonably flexible but we would request at least 48 hours notice to ensure we have a computer and invigilator available.
On-Site Visits –The NVQ qualification requires two on-site observation visits to be undertaken. The details of the visits will be agreed with you at your induction.
Simulated Task – Sometimes it isn’t always possible to complete all tasks in the work environment due to the nature of the task i.e. low carbon steel, it might be a little bit specialised or you haven’t had the work opportunity to collect the evidence. So to ensure you can achieve your qualification we can simulate this task at our Technical Centre or at your work place. This would be discussed at you induction.
Final Verification & Certification – As part of the City & Guilds requirement we have to send your completed portfolio to an internal verifier (IV). The role of the IV to scrutinise your portfolio to ensure that the assessments process was fair and accurate and that you have achieved all the required tasks. If the internal verifier confirms the portfolio is complete he will issue a request for the certificate.
Desktop Assessing – Throughout the process the assessor will review written and photographic evidence when submitted and provide feedback.
