The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration industry is currently going through enormous changes through the introduction of ‘The Montreal Protocol', ‘European Union Regulation 2037/2000', ‘The Kyoto Protocol' and ‘The Pressure Systems Regulations'. This is causing a colossal upheaval, on top of the fact that there is a massive shortfall of skilled engineers.

For the last 10 years or so the industry has had to cope with the banning of CFCs and is currently having to deal with the banning of HCFCs (R22). Now there are even doubts about the validity of their replacement refrigerants (HFCs).

Possible future replacement refrigerants are Hydrocarbons (Iso-butane and Propane) and Ammonia, all of which have additional hazards associated with them that engineers will need to have the skills to deal with.

Then there is the impending ‘Mandatory registration' of engineers onto the ACRIB register and Companies onto the REFCOM register.

Training and assessments to enable engineers to qualify for ACRIB registration are carried out at convenient times and places hence allowing companies to qualify for REFCOM registration.

To address the shortage of skilled engineers, Crownship are training engineers with suitable transferable skills in the disciplines required by the industry.

With the potential use of flammable Hydrocarbon refrigerants and toxic Ammonia, can your company afford not to have engineers trained in their use?
