Crane Authoriser (Lifting Operations Certificate Issuers)

The aim of the course is to provide potential Crane authorisers with the knowledge required to ensure that contractors on site are meeting the safety criteria for lifting operations prior to the issue of lifting operations certificate.

On completion of the course candidates will be able to understand:
 
  • Legal Implications Health and safety at work act 1974 - Loler Regulations
  • The planning for lifting and the requirements of good lifting practises including lifting accessories, safe working loads, choice of slings in relation to weight to be lifted and slinging method, siting of cranes and hazards to be considered, crane operation – slinger / signaller – appointed person – crane driver
  • Checking contractors risk assessment and method statements
  • Checking of certificates for cranes and lifting accessories
  • Compliance with WI – KBY – HSE – 019 ( Lifting procedures document)
  • Completion of Lifting Operation Certificate
